It all started on Saturday morning at 0910 hrs when Engine 5-13-1 transferred to Cecil County Station 8 while there crews were on a fire on Blue Ball Rd. Later that day engine 1 was once again used to set up a landing zone behind the fire house for Sky Care 1. Engine 5-13-1 .arrived and began by laying 600’ of 4” supply line, the engine crew quickly deployed two 1 ¾” hose lines to start protecting exposures and a blitzfire. Tanker 5-13 arrived and assisted with water supply. Remaining crews assisted with suppression and overhaul.
Meanwhile during the fire, the RFFC was dispatched for a vehicle accident in the 300 Blk of Nottingham Rd. Lieutenant 5-13-2 was the incident commander. Engine 5-9-1 and Harford engine 912 controlled hazards while Chester ambulance 21, ambulance 5-13, and medic 7-7-9 handled patient care.
After everyone was cleaned up from the previous incidents and was relaxing at the Rodger’s residence, the station was dispatched for a vehicle fire, vehicle reported as a tractor trailer full of hay.
Chief 5-13 arrived to find a trailer load of hay fully involved and requested an additional tanker. Engine 5-13-1 arrived and deployed two 1 ¾” hose lines and began suppressing the fire. Command 5-13 requested Cecil engine 814 as well as two additional tankers. Engine 5-13-3 arrived and began extinguishing brush fire that involved a kid’s playhouse. Crews spent again another few hours cleaning the hay off the road and extinguishing the remaining hay that was burning.
Thank you to crews who spent a majority of Saturday away from family and friends to help on the calls.
